The 2002 Service Unit Rate for the En Route Charge
In Denmark, an average service unit rate of DKK 398.78 (€53.58) will be used for the air navigation facility charges (en route charges) to be levied in 2002. An increase of only 3.05% compared to the 2001 rate.
Due to the downturn felt within the airline industry, EUROCONTROL has decided to freeze the rate during the first three months of 2002 in countries contemplating to raise their rate in 2002.
In Denmark, the rate will stay at DKK 388.55 during the first quarter, and during the following quarters, the charge will be DKK 401.80
This decision has been founded on an increase in traffic volume (service unit rates) of 0.6% and an increased level of costs of 3.9% in current prices compared to the estimated costs of 2001.
On average, the conditions in countries comparable to ours are forecasts that traffic will fall by 2.8% and that costs will rise by 6.8% in 2002.
In 2002, the average rate in countries comparable to ours, is DKK 465.57 unlike Denmark’s rate of DKK 398.78.
In 2002, the Danish rate thus undercuts the foreign rates by DKK 66.80 (14.8%).
