Press Release from The Danish Ministry of Transport and Energy (released 21 December 2005).
New pan-Scandinavian school for air traffic controllers On 21 December, the Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) from Denmark, Norway and Sweden formed a collective company for the purpose of running a pan-Scandinavian school for the training of air traffic controllers. Representatives from the three ANSP’s (Naviair in Denmark, Avinor in Norway and Luftfartsverket in Sweden) met in Oslo, Norway, to sign the memoranda of association.
With this new school the three ANSP’s make sure that they are able to comply with new pan-European requirements for the training and education of air traffic controllers, while at the same time improving the efficiency of the air traffic controller training. The school will handle the basic training of air traffic controllers for the three Scandinavian countries. Moreover, the school will, to a wide extent, provide supplementary training and be responsible for the recruitment and screening of students for the training programme. The school will be located by the airport in Sturup, Malmø. The first Danish students are expected to start in March 2006.
- The Scandinavian School for air traffic controllers is a fine example of how well the three Scandinavian countries are able to work together in the field of air traffic. The school is also an example of one of the many initiatives we are working on these years to improve air traffic and its competitiveness, says Mr Flemming Hansen, the Danish Minister for Transport and Energy.
The limited company behind the pan-Scandinavian air traffic controller school will have its registered office in Sweden. The Danish Naviair will own one third of the share capital of a total of SEK 300,000.
