With DFS, Germany and Austro Control, Austria, Naviair is best in Europe concerning cooperation among the ANSP’s. This was established at the EU conference in Budapest 3-4 March 2011 about implementation of EU’s Single European Sky programme.
At the EU conference, Naviair’s CEO, Mr. Morten Dambæk, was presented with a newly established prize for cooperation among ANSP’s. That Naviair is rewarded as the first recipient of the prize, is due to the huge commitment in the international cooperation in Europe – a commitment, which should always set an example for other companies in the business.
The new prize was established by HungaroControl, who hosted the conference in Budapest together with the European Commission and the Hungarian EU Precidency.
In a paper with a following panel discussion at the conference, Mr. Morten Dambæk talked about Naviair being a pioneer with implementation of Single European Sky, among others through the cooperation with LFV, Sweden, concerning the air traffic management in the joint Danish-Swedish airspace (DK/SE FAB). All European countries have committed themselves to contribute to the establishment of major airspace blocks latest December 2012. However, only one Functional Airspace block, besides the DK/SE FAB, has been established between Ireland and the UK. The two blocks have just initiated a cooperation to analyse the advantages by integrating the blocks.
