Naviair appoints new COO

Thorsten Elkjær, aged 41, will take up the position as new COO of Naviair on 12 October 2020.
Thorsten Elkjær will be responsible for all operational activities in Naviair, including the air traffic control centres in Copenhagen and Nuuk and the towers at several Danish airports. He joins the day-to-day management of Naviair.
Thorsten Elkjær starts as COO with great competence and experience in management and all operational activities in Naviair. Earlier in 2020, he was appointed Director, Operations and Deputy COO after five years as Director, Tower & Approach Services.
Before that, he was Head of Kastrup Tower from 2013 to 2015. In 2010 to 2013, Thorsten Elkjær gained international experience as an air traffic controller in Dubai.
He was trained as an air traffic controller at Naviair in the period 2000 to 2003 and was in the years after an air traffic controller at Kastrup. But already in 2007, he got his first managerial job as Operational Manager of Kastrup Tower.
