An agreement was signed at the Maastricht konference on 13 February 2007 between the ANSP-directors. | Irish Aviation Authority joins Nordic ATM Service Concept-cooperation - IAA involvement converts Nordic alliance to North European alliance Last year the directors from the six Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Finland and Estonia agreed on a Nordic Air Traffic Management Service Concept. Now the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has joined the co-operation.
Welcoming the agreement, Eamonn Brennan, CEO of the IAA said, “the IAA is very pleased to be the catalyst through which the Nordic alliance is transformed into a North European alliance. We are very committed to the process and see it as another positive step towards co-operation between ANSPs.”
The Nordic Air navigation service providers are absolutely delighted that IAA is joining the MoC, and so should all stakeholders be. This achievement is in line with the intention of the Single European Sky initiative, and is the first step towards a truly more user friendly service, says Knut Skaar, chief executive of the Air Navigation Services, Avinor.
The purpose and overall objective of the co-operation is a commitment to provide harmonised and cost efficient services to the customers, with a constant focus on safety, cost and quality of the service.
This co-operation should be seen in the context of, and contributing to, the wider European and international regulatory and legislative environment – the Single European Sky (SES), the Common ATM Service Concept and the European ATM Master Plan to be developed within the SESAR project.
