Last Friday, on 21 June 2002, NAVIAIR signed the contract entered into with French THALES ATM to supply a new air traffic management system, the so-called “DATMAS” (Danish Air Traffic MAnagement System).
The supply contracted for consists of several parts. By the middle of 2005 a “TRAINER” part is supplied containing 25 positions for tests and development. An advanced strip-less ATM system is supplied by the middle of 2006. The system is projected for launch mid-2007.
The system supplied to the Copenhagen ATC, Roskilde and Billund ATC is to replace the CATCAS system which has been running since February 1988.
The DATMAS system is NAVIAIR’s contribution towards the on-going measures to enhance the efficiency of the air traffic management systems in Europe.
