At a meeting on 5 December 2002 - based on a Phase 1 report, constituting an overall description of the delegation of the air traffic control services to a jointly managed area control centre - the Nordic ANS directors decided to continue the work done so far.

At the same time, it was pointed out that there is a demand for further investigations in respect of Norway and Finland.

In the light of the recently adopted EU package on a Single European Sky, NAVIAIR now intends to step up the work.
