www.flyveleder.com - A new web site for boys and girls who wish they were air traffic controllers.

For those youngsters between 18 and 25 years, NAVIAIR has launched an Internet solution to letting their dream come true in "Test yourself" at www.flyveleder.com.

NAVIAIR trains air traffic controllers in Denmark, and is as such responsible for most of the educational materials which underlie the motives for selecting candidates for the 3-year education and training.

We regard the Internet solution a very important eye-catching media to attract attention to the job of an air traffic controller.

The reason for this new way of going for an eye-catching marketing is the fact that the successful candidates for an air traffic controller career are very few and not enough. That is why we have launched this strategic offensive on the Internet to get more applicants for the job.

Out of 100 applicants 4-6 qualify, and to make both ends meet, we need at least 600-700 applicants to get 25-30 new air traffic controller trainees every year.

It is an accomplished fact that the job of an air traffic controller does not rank high enough when the young ones set their mind on choosing a career.

With the web-based campaign, we wish to make the job more visionary in the mind of the young ones so that they learn more about an air traffic controller career. The "Test yourself" approach is a way by which we hope for more applicants.

At www.flyveleder.com, we invite everyone to "snoop" around some of the events in the life of an air traffic controller, to learn about the application procedure, admission requirements and how you pass through the education and training.

On the web site you pass through an interactive test in 20-25 minutes that might lead you to an admission if you meet the requirements we are looking for. On top of that, you might sense how it is to enrol as an air traffic controller. This feeling is brought to you by the game CONTROL THE SKY in which you as an approach controller come through the test of landing safe and sound as many aircraft as possible at Copenhagen Airport.

The results of the interactive test are not used for any pre-qualification/refusal purposes. With the sole purpose of attracting attention to the air traffic controller career, they are intended as a means for players to become potential candidates by filling out the application form. This is the first stepping stone to enrol in the entrance examinations. It is our way to challenge young ones in discovering their potentialities, and thereby making them find new sides of their characters. Frankly put, it is also about spreading the word that might result in potential dialogues with more potential candidates applying for an air traffic controller education and training.

The web site has been created by NAVIAIR in close co-operation with outside parties with whom we have worked fantastically well all the way.

D’Arcy, the advertising agency, supplied the graphical design hand in hand with CareerHarmony and Pentamind, the software companies, in charge of building the interactive tests in “Test yourself” and CONTROL THE SKY. Creuna, the consultancy company, provided the Internet solution in solving the functionality and back-end programming.

We would also like to express our thanks to Steen Bosebjerg in charge of the Strategic Planning behind the main ideas aimed at NAVIAIR’s target audience and approach means of communication in “Test yourself, you could be found the lucky guy!”

Thus, to boom traffic at www.flyveleder.com, during the months of January and February 2002, NAVIAIR’s message will be brought on an awareness campaign in news papers and magazines along with a banner campaign soon to be seen on hot and trendy web sites. D’Arcy has been doing the creative work and design presentation.

Have fun on the site at www.flyveleder.com
